Monique OlivierManaging Attorney Monique Olivier is the Managing Attorney of The Sturdevant Law Firm. Ms. Olivier represents plaintiffs and plaintiff classes in consumer protection, civil rights, employment, and a variety of other complex litigation matters. She has successfully tried or settled cases involving fraud and misrepresentation, unfair and unlawful business practices, disability access, and gender, race and national origin discrimination. Her extensive experience includes trial and appellate work in federal and state courts, including the California Supreme Court, and has resulted in a number of reported appellate decisions.
Ms. Olivier received her B.A. in International Studies from Boston College and her J.D. degree with high honors from University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Lawrence K. Karlton, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California and as a contributing editor to the UC Davis Journal of International Law & Policy. Ms. Olivier is a member of the State Bars of California and Massachusetts, and is also admitted to practice in the federal courts in California, the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. She has lectured and written on consumer protection and class action issues. In recent years, she has given presentations as a faculty member of the Practicing Law Institute’s Consumer Financial Services Litigation Program and at the National Consumer Law Center’s Annual Class Action Symposium.
Ms. Olivier is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and co-chairs its Diversity Committee. She is also a volunteer attorney with the San Francisco Legal Aid Society - Employment Law Center’s Workers Rights Clinic.
Ms. Olivier also has a history of non-profit leadership. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Tibet Justice Center, and currently serves as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Performing Arts Workshop, a non-profit organization providing education through the arts to urban youth throughout the Bay Area.
